Kimmy Halter Top

Summer is officially here and so is crochet crop top designs. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing with you some beginner friendly crop top patterns as well as bags, shorts and other summer essentials.

The Kimmy Top was made with the intent to have another high neck design which I loved so much on the Eve Halter Top shown below. It also includes a choker attached which is back in style and here to stay. MATERIALS

2 Skein of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton Yarn

Crochet Hook: 4 mm

Stitch Markers

Tapestry Needle

Scissors

GAUGE

4sts + 2 rows

1in/3cm in Double Crochet

ABBREVIATIONS

Chain (CH)

Skip (SK)

Single Crochet (SC)

Double Crochet (DC)

V stitch (VS)

SPECIAL STITCH

V stitch (VS): Work 1 DC stitch, 1 CH stitch and 1 more DC in the same space.

PATTERN

Row 1: CH  94

Row 2: DC in the 3rd CH from the hook. DC in all remaining CHs.

Row 3: Turn. CH 2. DC in CH 2 space. DC in all remaining DC spaces.

Repeat Row 3 an additional 17 times.

Use stitch markers to mark off the middle 66 DCs. Rejoin yarn by any stitch marker.

Row 1: CH 4 (counts as first DC and CH 1) then DC in the same space. *SK 2. V stitch*. Repeat between * and * until you reach the next marker. Your row should end with a V stitch.

Row 2: Turn. SL ST into the CH 1 space. CH 4. DC in the same space. V stitch in all CH 1 spaces of the V stitches from the previous Row.

Row 3: Turn. Crochet 1 DC in the first V stitch. Remember that the CH 4 and DC counts as a V stitch. Crochet a V stitch I the middle of all the V stitch spaces. In the last V stitch space, crochet 1 DC.

Repeat Row 3 an additional 3x

Row 7: Turn. CH 3. V stitch in the middle of every V stitch then DC in DC space.

Repeat Row 7 an additional 7x. Fasten off

 

Row 1: CH 40. SC onto top of the last row of V stitches then CH 40 again. Fasten off

Row 2: Rejoin yarn in the 32nd CH space. CH 3. DC in all SC spaces and 6 of the CH spaces.

Row 3: Turn. Ch 2. DC in the CH 2 space. DC in all DC spaces.

Repeat Row 3 an additional 1/2x depending on how high you want your choker. Fasten off.

CH 40. SC onto top then CH 40 again. Fasten off

Rejoin yarn at the side end at the top/bottom. Crochet 2 SC in each DC row.

Turn. CH 1. SC in each SC space.

Repeat an additional 3x. Fasten off.

Repeat for the next side.

Rejoin yarn where the tip of the hook is located. SC in each DC space. When you reach the side with the SCs, CH 5 (counts as first DC and CH 2). *SK 2. DC in the next space*. Repeat between *and * until the end of the Row of SCs.

Picot at the bottom by CH 2. *SL ST in the front loop of the first CH of the CH 2. SL ST in the next two SC spaces. CH 2*.  Repeat between * and *.

When you reach the side with the SCs, CH 5 (counts as first DC and CH 2). *SK 2. DC in the next space*. Repeat between *and * until the end of the Row of SCs.

SC in each DC space at the top. Fasten off.

CH any amount that will be about 50in long. Weave the CH through the loops formed by the DC and CH 2 space.
